When will I receive my QR code?
Your eSIM QR code is usually sent by email within about 15 minutes of purchase, to the email address you used at checkout. The email also includes the APN settings you need after installing.
If it has not arrived, please check your spam and promotions folders. Your QR code is also available in your account at any time.
Orders placed during scheduled maintenance (Tuesday 10:00 PM to Wednesday 9:00 AM JST) will be processed after maintenance ends.If it still has not arrived 1 hour after your purchase (outside the Tuesday-night maintenance window), contact us at support@japan-on-line-esim.com with your order number and we will sort it out.
How do I install my eSIM?
Install over Wi-Fi with your QR code (or the activation code on Android). On Android, then set the APN to ppsim.jp. Full iPhone and Android steps.
Which APN settings do I need?
APN: ppsim.jp — with the username and password left blank. Needed on Android; on an iPhone, only for Personal Hotspot.
How long does my JAPAN-ON-LINE eSIM plan last?
Plans run from 8 to 31 days depending on the one you choose — the exact length is shown on every plan before you buy.
Your days start counting the first time your eSIM connects to the Japanese network, which is normally the moment you land and switch the line on. Buying early or installing early does not use up any of your days.
- The day you first go online counts as day 1.
- Days are whole calendar days, so an 8-day plan ends at the end of your 8th day.
What happens if I use up all my data?
Your connection does not stop. Once the high-speed allowance is used up, speeds are reduced to a maximum of 200kbps and you can keep using the eSIM until the end of your validity period.
At 200kbps, messaging and simple maps still work, but video and large downloads will be slow. There are no daily data limits, so you can use your allowance at whatever pace suits your trip.
If you need full speed again before your trip ends, you can buy another eSIM at any time.
Are there any additional charges or hidden fees?
None. The price shown at checkout is everything you pay — there is no shipping, no activation fee, no deposit and no contract.
One-off eSIM plans do not renew automatically, so you will never be charged again unless you choose to buy another eSIM. Going over your data allowance does not cost anything either; your speed is simply reduced to 200kbps.
